When you first arrive you dont think about the many Santorini tours on offer...No, instead, the fist thing most of us do is head straight for the hire car company. There are loads on the island. They all offer cars, bikes, scooters or quads
At least now you can travel around the Island, at your own free will.
Of course you will need a map of Santorini Island, a navigator and a whole load of information about the places you are visiting, to read up on. Then there is the road system to get used to, and the non-existent road signs to follow, and of course, there is the added attraction of...The Greek Drivers!

The roads get pretty busy here during the holiday season.
If you don’t get lost or your car doesn’t break down, then you will have a nice, but tiring day. Of course it isn’t as bad as all that, but it could be.
I like to ride my bike around, without a clue where I am headed. I just follow my nose, you would be amazed at some of the things I have come across using this method…but that’s me, and not everyone enjoys getting lost, especially in a strange country.
So…a good idea, just for one day, would be to hang those keys up and go on one of the many Santorini tours, sit back, let someone else do the driving…

One word of warning.
It may be a lot cooler when you are out on deck, with the breeze in your hair. However, the suns rays are still very, very strong, so it is best to wear your hat, and sun cream at all times for your protection.
So, just for one day,leave your vehicle at the hotel, and enjoy one of the many Santorini tours.
I'm sure you will agree. Its a good way to learn something of the History, the people and the culture of this awe-inspiring Island.
